On Particulars of Sale of the Neuaddfawr Estate owned by a Mr Hughes on 17 th June 1931 Ty Newydd was auctioned. Mr David Rees was the occupier, a yearly tenant
When the cottage was burnt down it was owned by a Ms. Harries who was an elderly lady. She had no electricity or water supply. Her water was taken from a “well” which was a pit with a flat stone over in the stream which runs past the cottage. She grew vegetables on a raised square of ground behind the cottage. Newspapers piled by the fireplace were ignited by a spark from the fire which quickly spread to the thatched roof . The fire brigade was unable to find a way to reach the cottage as it had only pedestrian access.
In 1982 her son had a bungalow, Gorwel built on part of the land next to the road.
All that remains of the cottage are the barn walls which have been re-roofed with corrugated iron. The fireplace is still intact , also the chimney, though the top is missing. The barn has its original doors and is divided into two by a wooden screen. The floor is cobbled on one side of the screen. According to the 1901 census the cottage had 3 rooms.
